Due to the pandemic, many scientific meetings and conferences have been cancelled or modified to virtual online formats. Members of the Leese Lab attended two virtual meetings during 2021, including the Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB) annual meeting in January, and the Lehigh Valley Ecology and Evolution Symposium in April. Cole Bower (’21) and Tim Cruz (’21) presented their work, ‘Effect of habitat quality on aggression in convict cichlid pairs’ at both meetings. Paul Heveran (’22) also gave a talk at SICB titled ‘Age-class differences in wintering distributions of broad-winged hawks’. While the virtual formats of the meetings provided some new and beneficial opportunities for participation that will likely continue, we are all hopeful that next year’s meetings (SICB in Phoenix and LVEES at Lehigh University) will allow for in person participation as well.
