{"id":52015,"date":"2024-11-18T01:50:48","date_gmt":"2024-11-18T06:50:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.desales.edu\/dsu-daily\/?p=52015"},"modified":"2024-11-13T14:28:20","modified_gmt":"2024-11-13T19:28:20","slug":"announcing-efax-service-for-campus-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.desales.edu\/dsu-daily\/2024\/11\/18\/announcing-efax-service-for-campus-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Announcing eFax Service for Campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Information <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">technology services<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> is pleased to announce the implementation of the new eFax service for campus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In keeping with the overall strategy to migrate away from the previous phone system, faxing is also moving to a cloud-based faxing solution that <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">is<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0FERPA\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">HIPAA\u00a0compliant<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. We consolidated some department fax numbers and only kept fax numbers active where sensitive information was being transmitted regularly. This also aligns with the work to centralize printing and reduce the number of smaller printers and fax machines from the network.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Some benefits of eFax\u00a0are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Security of faxing from your computer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ability to select and attach specific documents. (Word, Excel, PDF, TIFF, JPEG, BMP)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Verification of what was sent and when.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The ability to send one fax to multiple fax numbers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">People using the DeSales general fax number will have the fax forwarded to their DeSales email address.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Departments with dedicated fax numbers will have faxes delivered to the department\u2019s shared fax email account and routed appropriately.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The ability to retrieve a fax from your email account when not in your office.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">There is no need to inform the recipients you are sending via eFax. They will see the fax arrive as they saw it in the\u00a0past.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A cover page is automatically generated, including the number of pages and your name, using the subject and body of the email.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Faculty and staff must be granted access to this new system to send faxes. As a start, department administration\/secretaries and designated members of departments with dedicated fax numbers are given this access. We encourage departments to use the designated eFax coordinator to send faxes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The new campus-wide fax number is 610-282-1480. When receiving a fax, please ask the sender to include the name and DeSales email address to aid in the efficient routing of the fax when received.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">At this time, there is no charge for this service. Should a department or office be sending or receiving a large number of pages that lead to cost increases, we will have to pass those increases along to the department or office.
