Aside from causing itching pain, redness, and swelling, many bug bites can also spread diseases. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>To help prevent insect bites:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Wear light-colored clothing that covers your body.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Avoid standing water where mosquitoes like to lay eggs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Avoid outdoor activities during dawn and dusk.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you are bitten, try not to scratch. Scratching irritates the bite and may cause infection.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ticks:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Avoid wooded, brushy areas with high grass and leaf litter.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Check for ticks after coming in from outdoor activities. Also, check clothing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you find a tick <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">it is important to remove<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> it as quickly as possible.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Use fine-tip tweezers<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0to remove the entire tick. Then wash the area with soap and water.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> you are bitten and develop flu-like symptoms or a rash<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, seek medical attention<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Bees\/Wasps\/Hornets:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Stay away from hives and nests.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Don\u2019t swat bees or wasps with your hands.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Stings may feel hot and itchy.
