At the beginning of COVID, I was on a silent retreat in Snow Mass, Colorado with Benedictine monks. Since then, I moved back to the east coast to start a position in the Center for Faith and Justice. Through it all, I have tried to be the evidence and see the evidence in others. Being the evidence means taking the lessons that God has taught us and bringing them to life, in our day-to-day. And there is no better time to do it than right now! God has challenged each and every one of us to be the evidence during these difficult times.
No matter who you are, everyone has been affected in some way by this pandemic, and since that is the case, how have you been the evidence for those around you? How has your belief in others inspired them? How have you connected or reconnected with someone during this time? How have you been taking steps toward your journey of endless possibilities? What we cannot do during this time is be the evidence now and not be it later. It is vital for all of us to come out of the other side of this better than we were before.
Personally, there have been many valuable lessons of patience, connection, and strength that have tested me during this period of time. There have also been introspective reflections where I have been able to realize how much I take for granted and have practiced habits that will help me avoid doing that in the future. I implore you all that through the events of the past months, you will continue to accept the challenges that God has put in front of us, learn from those lessons, and continue to be the evidence.
