Six current DeSales undergraduate students, two biology faculty members, and one chemistry faculty member are participating in the 2025 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship program this summer. Drs. Austen Barnett, Dia Beachboard, and Fran Mayville are guiding teams of two students as they explore the evolution of germ cell development in arachnids by following the expression of conserved genes throughout the embryogenesis of the arachnid Archegozetes longisetosus and using segmentation gene expression during embryonic development; testing antimicrobial compounds that target either bacteria or viruses; and investigating the release rate for chlorpheniramine maleate from its matrix under various pH and humidity conditions.
Please join us as they present the results of their hard work during their eight-week research projects.
