Orientation 2025: Faculty and Staff Involvement Opportunities

Hello DeSales faculty and staff, 

Orientation 2025 will be here soon, and one of the best things about this event is the unity that the entire DeSales community shows to the new first-year students. The positive feedback from the class and their families about the welcoming team is tremendous!  

During the last five years, the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership formulated a new plan to connect our first-year students to DeSales. It included a new Orientation webpage, desales.edu/orientation, video tours, a summer series of webinars and Zoom sessions, utilizing social media, in-person information sessions, and gathering as much data as possible to connect with the class. We are doing this again during the summer, as we start a new school year.   

If you would like to be part of this year’s Character U and Orientation Program, please consider the following opportunities.  

Summer Program Involvement: 

  • Now-Friday, August 15, 2025. 
    • If you would like to be part of this year’s Summer Preview program, which can include information on our Orientation webpage, a table at our summer information sessions, or a video for the new first-year students, please fill out the following form on Bark: https://cglink.me/2yU/s404.
      • Once you fill out the form, a member of the Orientation Team will contact you. As you are planning, the theme of Orientation this year is “Level Up Your Character – Video Games!” So, if you would like to incorporate that somehow, we would love it! 

Opening Day Faculty and Staff Helping Hands:

  • Once again, the Orientation team would like to invite all DeSales University faculty and staff to help with the check-in/move-in process on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 7:30AM – 1:30PM.
      • Those who are unable to carry objects or have limited mobility can find other jobs.
      • You will get an official Orientation shirt, breakfast, and lunch for helping.

Orientation On-Campus Job / Work-Study Information Fair: 

  • The Orientation On Campus Job / Work Study Information Fair will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 11AM–1:30PM in the DUC.  If you oversee an office, department, and/or event on campus that offers on-campus or work-study positions, this will be your opportunity to show the Class of 2029 what you have to offer.  

Orientation Judges for Student Challenges: 

  • Judges are needed for our Orientation Student Challenges. These events, which will include singing, talent, and dancing, will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, between 3PM and 5PM in the DUC. If you would like to be a judge, we would need you there 15 minutes beforehand and sometimes 15 minutes afterwards.
